Bike Skills Workshop for local Middle School Students

  • Covington Elementary School (multipurpose room) (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Will your child bike to school this year? Wheel Kids prepares Middle School students to ride to school. Participants (students and their parents or guardians) will learn how to become confident riders by learning the rules of the road and how to avoid common crashes, practicing bike handling skills, and put it all into practice during a group neighborhood ride.

Middle school is a great moment to ride to school as children are ready for more independence and also since middle school is often farther from home than their neighborhood elementary school.

The workshops will take place at Covington Elementary School on: Saturday, August 12 and September 9th; 8:30 am - 12:30 pm.

Program brought to you by Los Altos Safe Routes to School in collaboration with Wheel Kids

Complete Streets Commission Meeting hosted by the City of Los Altos - Virtual Online Meeting

Every year, the Valley Transportation Authority makes grants available through their Vehicle Emissions Reductions Based at Schools program to fund education programs through Safe Routes to Schools programs. Such programs encourage students of schools in Santa Clara County to walk or bike to school to reduce morning commute congestion.

Safe Routes to School refers to a variety of multi-disciplinary programs aimed at both increasing the number of students walking and bicycling to school and reducing the number of vehicle trips associated with school travel on a national or statewide level.
